Who is a Fool?

By Chidozie on January 27, 2012

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalms 14:1

The one who denies God is a fool, according to the Bible. It is amazing that there are individuals today who observe the creation all around them, but deny there is a Creator.

Anyone who trusts in their own heart, today many believe in what they do, simply because they feel it is right. They have external standard for right or wrong, truth or error. The wise man in the book of Proverbs said it all: “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered” Prov. 28: 26.

The fool is one who hides his feeling of hatred toward others with lying lips or slanders others. “He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that uttered a slander, is a fool” Prov. 10:18.

The person who despises wisdom and knowledge is a fool. “A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent” Prov. 15:5. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction Prov.1:7.

The fool is one who builds on the sand. Jesus said a wise man builds his house on a rock. Jesus explained such are those who hear his sayings and does them. Conversely, those who hear Jesus’ teaching, but do not do them, Jesus said he “shall be liked unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand” Matt. 7: 26, 24-27.

The rewards of a Fool

He shall be a servant to the wise. “He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart” Prov.11:29.

He shall receive shame. “The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools” Prov. 3:35.

He shall fall in all his endeavors’. “The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall” Prov.10:8.

He will die without the wisdom of God. “The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom” Prov.10:21.

He will battle closed heaven all his life. “And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron” Deuteronomy 28:23.

He will eat the bread of sorrow. “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep” Psalm 127:2.
