7 keys to find happiness on the job.
Happiness involves feeling good about yourself, the people and things around you. When your gifts and abilities are fully developed and utilized through your life’s work, you grow in confidence and strength. Here are 7 keys to find happiness on the job:
See work as God’s gift, not punishment. “When God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God” (Ecclesiastes 5:19 NIV).
Recognize God as your true employer. “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free”( Ephesians 6:7-8 NIV).
Pursue work compatible with your gifts. “If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter4:11NIV).
Learn everything possible about your job. “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance” (Proverb 1:5 NIV). Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
Use criticism to your advantage. In fact, to find happiness on the job, you should be open to suggestions and correction: “Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored” (Proverb 13:18).
Do more than is expected of you. “If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles” (Matthew 5:41).
Make Jesus your work partner. “Stay Christ-conscious throughout the day as you perform your duties faithfully: “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” Isaiah 26:3).
